Today is the first day of the rest of your lives [ opening post ]

WHO: EVERYONE. NPCs will be around to actively engage if you so desire.
WHAT: Sleepers wake and begin to figure out just what, exactly, they are supposed to do with themselves. tl;dr: REACTION POST for new characters to get out and mingle.
WHERE: Everywhere. Mostly the living quarters, but really: anywhere you want.
WHEN: The first week, April 1st through April 7th.
WARNINGS: Travis Touchdown (Ryan LeCourt) has quite a mouth on him.
NOTES: This is a serious game, guys. WE’RE SUPER SRS HERE. This may be a lie.

Shimmering blue blanketed the underground city as the light reflected off the sapphires in the ceiling. It cast its eerie glow, almost mimicking the effect of light on water without the sort of freeing peace one might feel with the soft ocean waves. Figuring out how deep down the city was located was near impossible when the air was obviously heated to something approaching comfortable, and nothing seemed to echo too far past the quiet hum of the city.

Workers made their way down the street, every one with a Sleeper in tow. Something that would have been unheard of only a few days ago, now more likely than one would think. They intended to start slow, but considering how many others were still in cryo, this was a laidback pace.

in a diner [since the mods said it was kosher to just throw him wherever]

Snow had always been a lateral thinker. He'd charge in, guns blazing, and fix the problem no matter what it took. That made his current situation especially difficult to wrap his head around. It's pretty difficult to charge in when there's nowhere to charge. Or rather, plenty of places to charge but nowhere to actually get something solved.

He barely grabbed his ID on the way out, and not for lack of remembering. Conforming to rules and regulations had never been his style, and it sure seemed like there were plenty of both here. Too many of both. Too many of both, and too much else to think about, or to try not to think about. This was the first time since he could remember that a situation has ever literally been too much. Even when Serah turned to crystal, he still had something to fight for, to work toward. Now? Now he was a prisoner, there was no other way to put it. And what he really honest-to-Maker wanted to do was to walk right up to the man behind that network message, introduce himself as Snow Villiers from Cocoon, and give this guy a piece of his mind.

Somewhere between his room and that man, though, his path had inadvertently shifted somehow (he still can't figure out whether or not he'd meant to), and Monday afternoon found him sitting on a stool at the first place that smelled anything like food and staring at a sandwich made of some sort of meat and what looked like pickles. And a milkshake. Somehow, he'd thought he'd feel a little better if he had a milkshake.

/starts the process of throwing Thresh at everyone ever

[personal profile] wheatfield 2012-04-01 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Thresh had spent all of the last day barricaded in his room, and for all that he had intended on staying there for the next week or so, his body had insisted on food. This was odd, as he had gone much longer on much less, but evidently with the new location, they'd messed with his body. He was missing scars, and he just generally felt much, much better.

He hadn't actually realized how badly he'd been off until now.

However, Capitol plot or not, Thresh was still hungry. Fully intent on tracking down some food, he grabbed the knife he had found the previous day, as well as the id badge he had seen laying on the ground. He might had thrown it there the day before, he wasn't sure.

Ensuring that he wasn't forgetting anything, he left his rooms, starting the walk through the halls in search of food. Twenty minutes later, he found himself at the door of what looked like the cafe back in his District that only served Peacekeepers.

It took him a moment more, but he overcame the ingrained avoidance and pushed open the door, scanning the room quickly, only seeing a man with long blond hair.

hey, that's what I'm planning when we get a few more people

At the sound behind him, Snow glanced over his shoulder to see who or what had just come in. A boy, couldn't be older than eighteen or nineteen. "Hey," he offered with a half-grin of greeting.

And then, with a quick look at his milkshake, he made the executive decision to slide it down the counter to the next stool over. "It's your lucky day. I wasn't so thirsty after all." Snow shot another glance back at the boy. "Don't worry, I haven't touched it."

That's what awesome about panfandom games, you can get all of the crack CR ever

Thresh hesitated for about five seconds before walking over to sit next to the man. If there was anything he'd learned through his life, it was that you never turned down free food. Even if the guy had dosed it with something, Thresh thought he'd probably be able to take him out before the effects fully set in.

Thresh nodded in gratitude and took first a hesitant sip, then a more enthusiastic one, as he was introduced to what was quite possibly the most delicious drink he had ever had. Not even the food at the Capitol had been this good.

"Thanks. I'm Thresh." He figured he might as well introduce himself to the man who had given up a drink for Thresh.
herocycle: (you really think so?)

hells yes

At least the kid liked the shake. A lot, in fact. "Heeey, slow down. There's this thing called 'brain-freeze', I dunno if you've heard of it?" Snow grinned, chuckling at Thresh's enthusiasm. "You act like you've never had a milkshake before."

At the introduction, one hand lifted to scratch at the back of his neck. "Pretty sure I'm supposed to go by Shiloh, here."

At the advice, Thresh slowed down, pausing to respond instead of downing the milkshake as fast as possible, "I haven't. They don't have these where I come from." Or anything at all.

At the introduction, Thresh shruged. "They said something about that, but I don't remember what they said they changed my name to. Something stupid." He turned and looked at 'Shiloh' "What's your real name?"
herocycle: (this pleases me)

To his confession, Snow let out a laugh. "You're kidding. Tell me you've had fries before, 'cause kid, you've been missing out." Even as he spoke, Snow was reaching up to the touch-screen display and clumsily ordering up a basket of fries, too. That'll be out in a couple of minutes. Until then, it's time for some blatant disregarding of Cave Rule Number 1.

"I'm Snow." And it was fantastic to hear that he wasn't the only one who wasn't sold on all of this.
wheatfield: (Bitch please)

[personal profile] wheatfield 2012-04-04 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"The hell are fries?" Thresh turns his head to stare blankly at Snow. "I'm from 11." As if that explains everything. Which, granted, had he been back home it would have.

"Good name, better than 'Shiloh'." Thresh snorted, taking another sip of his milkshake before continuing. "That sounds Capitol." Because only the Capitol would be stupid enough to name their kids something like that.
herocycle: (what are you even)

[personal profile] herocycle 2012-04-07 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Eleven? Capitol?" He echoed the terms, sounding a little confused. "I think something might've got lost in translation. I've never heard of either of them." Well, obviously 11 is a number and Cocoon (where he's from) has a capitol city, but that obviously wasn't the same.

And it's right about then that a fresh basket of fries slid out of the food hatch. Snow snatched it right up, stealing one for his own mouth before setting them in front of Thresh. "Look out though, they're kinda hot." And now that he could taste the fry in his mouth, he added, "And they need more salt."

His eyes searched the counter for some sort of salt shaker, but to no avail thus far.

[personal profile] wheatfield 2012-04-08 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"Eh," he shrugged. "I think we're from different 'dreams'." Not that he had met anyone from his own 'dream', yet. "Eleven's my home District, Capitol rules over the Districts."

Heat hadn't stopped Thresh from eating anything before, and it wasn't going to now. That said, the fry scalded his tongue, and he took a desperate sip of his milkshake to try and sooth the burn. "They're good."
herocycle: (this pleases me)

[personal profile] herocycle 2012-04-09 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
Snow grinned. "What'd I tell you?" There was a life lesson to be learned here: Always accept food from Snow.

He had to ask now, though. "What else did you, uh, 'dream' about?" Because already it sounded a whole lot different than where he's from.
wheatfield: (defiance)

"There was a war, then the Capitol ruled, Districts rebelled, one died, twelve remain, now we have to send tributes to the Games every year." Stated so plainly, one might miss the fact that the Games had an ominous ring to it.

This wasn't helped by the fact that Thresh was starting to experiment with his food, and dipped a fry into his milkshake, to see if he liked it that way.

"You?"

Sitting a little down the counter from Snow was Jonas who was happily tucking into a plate of pancakes. Next to that was a full plates of eggs and sausages and a glass of chocolate milk. It seemed that his body had remembered the increased metabolism being from Kelowna had given him in the dream so he was still hungrier then most. Not that he minded since eating was never a hardship.

When he noticed Snow sitting a little ways away an staring at his food, Jonas gave him a welcoming grin. "It's really good, I promise."

Snow hadn't really paid the other man much attention until he spoke up, at which point he flashed a bit of an embarrassed sort of grin. "Whoops, I guess I got a little distracted." In a place like this, it was hard not to.

To make up for lost time, he picked up the sandwich and took a nice-sized bite. The man was right, this definitely wasn't half bad.

Jonas chuckled lightly as he took another bite of his own meal. "You would not be the only one to have a lot on your mind. Or plate for that matter." Or at least he thought he got that expression right. "Sleeper, right?" He asked, thought he was positive he knew the answer already.
